Chrystia Freeland Blames High Food Prices in Canada on Putin

Canada’s annual inflation rate currently stands at 6.8 per cent, the highest since January 1991. This means the dollars in your pocket are losing nearly seven per cent of their purchasing power every 12 months.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland says the Canadian government is well aware of inflationary fears and as such, is committed to rein in federal spending.  When quested by the Conservatives about Canada high food costs in Canada, Chrystia Freeland blamed Vladimir Putin and the invasion of Ukraine.

Chrystia Freeland said “higher food prices today are being driven by Vladimir Putin illegal invasion of Ukraine.”
