A secret list of individuals and their credit ratings was sent to Farm Credit Canada, a Crown bank.

Managers at the federal bank for farmers monitored clients for political opposition to Justin Trudeau and hid those investigations from users of FCC’s services and applicants for financing, according to new internal emails obtained exclusively by Blacklock’s Reporter.

Findings by Farm Credit Canada bureaucrats could have resulted in a seizure of assets:

“Any individual and entities that have been verified by the authorities as participating in illegal activity under the Act will face appropriate action which will include not onboarding those found to violate the Act, freezing disbursements and assessing the need to terminate business relationships,” said the email.

“If you become aware of potential customer involvement in blockades, occupations and other support of activity related to the ‘Freedom Convoy’ you must submit a tip to the customer diligence centre,” said the email. “Include the customer’s name, stated involvement, date and any other pertinent details. Please do not complete any investigative work yourself or communicate any information about FCC’s approach to customers who voluntarily disclose their involvement.”

When Blacklock’s disclosed the Farm Credit Canada blacklist last Feb. 24, the FCC denied it saying “it has not compiled any list with respect to the Freedom Convoy. FCC employees must not speak to media.”

Blacklock’s says the pertinent emails were among 1,082 documents released through Access To Information.

Provinces and farmers denounce Trudeau for pushing ahead on fertilizer reduction climate policy https://canadianriley.com/provinces-and-farmers-denounce-trudeau-for-pushing-ahead-on-fertilizer-reduction-climate-policy/ https://canadianriley.com/provinces-and-farmers-denounce-trudeau-for-pushing-ahead-on-fertilizer-reduction-climate-policy/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 25 Jul 2022 05:10:21 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1560 Only days after Trudeau was in the Okanagan, BC on a photo shoot promoting farming and agriculture, Trudeau announces that he has decided to move forward with his cap on nitrogen emissions by reducing fertilizer use, even as provincial Agriculture Ministers beg him to stop.

Discontent with left-wing policy is triggering massive protests all over the world

Agriculture ministers from several provinces say they’re concerned about the federal government’s plan to reduce fertilizer emissions in the name of climate change at a time when global food security is an issue.

A three-day meeting of federal, provincial, and territorial ministers concluded in Saskatoon on July 22 with Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario expressing disappointment over the Liberals’ intent to impose fertilizer emissions reduction targets on Canadian farmers.

“We’re really concerned with this arbitrary goal,” said Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit in a joint statement with his counterpart in Alberta, Nate Horner. “The Trudeau government has apparently moved on from their attack on the oil and gas industry and set their sights on Saskatchewan farmers.”

According to Alberta Agriculture Minister Nate Horner, “This has been the most expensive crop anyone has put in, following a very difficult year on the prairies. The world is looking for Canada to increase production and be a solution to global food shortages. The Federal government needs to display that they understand this. They owe it to our producers.”

Fertilizer prices are a major input cost for already low-margin cash crop operations. A 35 per cent hike from this tariff — when combined with farmers’ already-inflated energy and gasoline bills — puts a lot of upward pressure on commodity prices.

That’s why Koeslag’s organization — along with the Grain Farmers of Ontario, the Ontario Canola Growers, the Atlantic Grains Council, Les Producteurs de Grains du Quebec, a half-dozen other farm groups from Eastern Canada and fertilizer industry representatives — called on the federal government again this week to reconsider.

Manitoba farmers are disappointed that their premier haven’t responded to Trudeau’s actions.

The federal government is looking to impose a requirement to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizers saying it is a greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. While the Trudeau government says they want a 30% reduction in emissions, not fertilizer, farm producer groups say that at this point, reducing nitrous oxide emissions can’t be done without reducing fertilizer use.

Canadian Convoy Rallies Planned in Support of Dutch Farmers June 23 https://canadianriley.com/canadian-convoy-rallies-planned-in-support-of-dutch-farmers-june-23/ https://canadianriley.com/canadian-convoy-rallies-planned-in-support-of-dutch-farmers-june-23/?noamp=mobile#respond Wed, 20 Jul 2022 04:57:29 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1490 Canadian farmers and supporters are planning convoy protests across the country on July 23 to stand in solidarity with Dutch farmers who have been protesting against their government’s climate change policies since June.

What the mainstream media is not reporting on are the massive amount of world-wide protests against climate change policies, inflation and worldwide farmer uprisings, you’ll find no mention of the economic protests raging in Spain, Morocco, Greece, and the United Kingdom.

Rallies in support of the farmers are set to take place simultaneously in several provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Saskatchewan. The rallies are grass-roots movements organized by locals in each province.

Trudeau’s nitrogen policy will devastate Canadian farming, warn of Dutch scenario https://canadianriley.com/trudeaus-nitrogen-policy-will-devastate-canadian-farming-warn-of-dutch-scenario/ https://canadianriley.com/trudeaus-nitrogen-policy-will-devastate-canadian-farming-warn-of-dutch-scenario/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 11 Jul 2022 23:30:45 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1275 As Dutch farmers protests rage, the head of one of Canada’s premier agricultural groups is warning that strict domestic emissions targets could spur a similar reaction from the industry.

Strict nitrogen and ammonia emissions caps by the Dutch government have sparked nationwide protests. Tens of thousands of farmers and their supporters have formed convoys throughout the country demanding a referendum on government measures.

Member’s of the Conservative party are expressing their concern for Canadian farmers.  MP John Barlow warns Canada about the EU farmers crisis “The Liberals are following the same farm to fork agenda”. “We could be seeing the exact same thing here in Canada” says Barlow.

In 2020 Trudeau government unveiled their new climate plan, with a focus on reducing nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizer by 30% below 2020 levels by 2030.

Fertilizers play a major role in the agriculture sector’s success and have contributed to record harvests in the last decade. However, nitrous oxide emissions, particularly those associated with synthetic nitrogen fertilizer use have also grown significantly. That is why the Government of Canada has set the national fertilizer emissions reduction target, which is part of the commitment to reduce total GHG emissions in Canada by 40-45% by 2030.

Any attempt to lower admissions by reducing nitrogen fertilizer will consequently lower crop yields over the next decade, hurting the Agriculture sector and, more importantly, hurting farmers.

Fertilizer Canada doesn’t believe that forcibly decreasing fertilizer use will even lower greenhouse gases but could lead to carbon leakage elsewhere.

Nonetheless, Trudeau’s government is moving forward, with farmer’s groups speaking to Farmers Forum now.

Dutch Farmer Protests – Police Shots Fired at Protest Tractors https://canadianriley.com/dutch-farmer-protests-police-shots-fired-at-protest-tractors/ https://canadianriley.com/dutch-farmer-protests-police-shots-fired-at-protest-tractors/?noamp=mobile#respond Sun, 10 Jul 2022 05:34:57 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1162 Dutch Farmer Protests:

Dutch farmers angry at government plans to slash emissions have blocked roads and supermarket distribution centers for several days, sparking fears of food shortages.

The unrest among Dutch farmers was triggered by a government proposal to slash emissions of pollutants like nitrogen oxide and ammonia by 50 per cent by 2030. Provincial governments have been given a year to formulate plans to achieve the goal.

The reforms are expected to include reducing livestock and buying up some farms whose animals produce large amounts of ammonia. Farmers argue they are being unfairly targeted and are being given no perspective for their future.

Thousands of farmers have gathered in the central Netherlands to protest against the Dutch government’s plans to rein in emissions of nitrogen oxide and ammonia, driving their tractors across the Netherlands and snarling traffic on major highways.

Farmers hooted their tractors’ horns as they drove onto the field, where a banner on a truck read, in Dutch: “What The Hague chooses is deeply sad for the farmer”, a reference to lawmakers in the city that houses the Netherlands’ parliament.

Dutch police shot at a tractor during a heated night of farm protests and detained three demonstrators, the latest incident in a string of protests against government plans to cut pollutant emissions that many farmers fear would hurt their livelihoods.  One of the tractor drivers is reported to be a 16 years old.

Police in northern Friesland said Wednesday that no one was hurt in the incident that involved warning shots and direct targeting of a tractor that broke free from a line. Police said there was an attempt to drive into their vehicles and officers; however videos captured shows that the tractor was driving away from the police.  Because shots were fired, an official investigation into the incident was started.

Holland Farmer Protests:

We are now also covering the International farmers protests and other protests.  These are developing stories and will be updated accordingly.  Whenever possible we will include video coverage.

Leslyn Lewis Defends Canadian Farmers They Keep Getting Attacked by this Liberal Government https://canadianriley.com/leslyn-lewis-defends-canadian-farmers-they-keep-getting-attacked-by-this-liberal-government/ https://canadianriley.com/leslyn-lewis-defends-canadian-farmers-they-keep-getting-attacked-by-this-liberal-government/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 21 Jun 2022 02:36:06 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=719 The cost of living has gone up for all Canadians. But for those who produce food on any of the tens of thousands of Canadian farms, they’re feeling the pinch, too, with fertilizer and diesel prices skyrocketing in recent months.

Farmers were among the first to see the impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Because those two nations are among the world’s largest wheat producers, the shock to the markets was felt in Canada, with high demand and high prices for Canadian grain.

The anger over the Trudeau government’s plan to have farmers use less fertilizer hasn’t boiled over in this country like it has across the Netherlands, but it’s getting there.

Leslyn Lewis said in the House of Commons today that Canadian farmers keep getting attached by this Liberal Government. “Canadian farmers have been feeding us for generations. They deserve our things, but instead they keep getting attacked by this liberal government.”
