Inflation is So Bad That Both the NDP and the Conservatives are Grilling the Liberals. The Finance Minister must be wearing industrial grade noise cancelling earphones to avoid hearing the calls from economist to Qatar government’s over the top spending. She knows that it’s only adding gas to the inflationary fire. The Prime Minister has said that anything that has a hint of fiscal risk considering restraint he is austerity. He acts Bill Morneau for wanting to get COVID Post COVID spending under control is she worried that if she presents anything to the prime minister that remotely resembles a cat that she might suffer the same fate of her predecessor, who went from finance minister more no to finance minister.

“They keep talking about things that they were doing or should have been doing before inflation struck. The fact is, Canadians are worried about losing their homes. They’re worried about feeding their families.”

They’re more than happy to use inflation to collect more taxes.”

Candice Bergen: We are suffering with record high inflation:

“We are suffering with record high inflation, and it’s clear these liberals have no plan to deal with it responsibly, except more of the same mismanagement that got us here in the first place out of control spending.”

More Inflation – Chrystia Freeland and The Liberal’s Plan to Control Inflation https://canadianriley.com/more-inflation-chrystia-freeland-and-the-liberals-plan-to-control-inflation/ https://canadianriley.com/more-inflation-chrystia-freeland-and-the-liberals-plan-to-control-inflation/?noamp=mobile#respond Fri, 17 Jun 2022 01:13:50 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=568 “I’m confident that our plan is the right one. But I do not underestimate the economic difficulties and, frankly, the uncertainty of the months to come,” says Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland in Toronto speech on government’s proposals to ease the impact of inflation.

Canadian inflation currently stands at 6.8 per cent. This means that the loonie is losing nearly seven cents of purchasing power every 12 months. For a Canadian earning a median income of $55,700 per year, that translates to an annual inflationary loss of $3,787.60.

On the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian federal debt stood at $686 billion. That’s now ballooned to more than $1.1 trillion. Even after a sharp scale back in government spending for the 2022 budget, Canada is still spending well above pre-pandemic levels; this year’s $52.8 billion deficit represents $1,400 per Canadian in new debt

Government spending has been so massive, in fact, that the average Canadian was ultimately sitting on more cash than if a pandemic had never happened. Or, as the Bank of Canada put it, “extraordinary fiscal support more than offset (pandemic) income losses, so on balance, household income increased.”

“The five points I’ve spoken about today, respect for the central role of the Bank of Canada, investing in people, fiscal restraint, good jobs, and a new affordability plan will help sustain the robust recovery we’ve made from the COVID recession.”

Trudeau : Immigration to Blame for High Housing Prices https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-immigration-to-blame-for-high-housing-prices/ https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-immigration-to-blame-for-high-housing-prices/?noamp=mobile#respond Wed, 08 Jun 2022 03:43:40 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=192 Trudeau: Immigration to Blame for High Housing Prices? Ramping up immigration targets without a housing supply strategy was a policy error. National home Prices doubled since Trudeau entered office in 2015 .

Good morning, Prime Minister Jeff out that from the Waterloo Region record, I want to return to housing for a second here. My son 25 years old still lives at home with us college grad good paying job, he laughs off the idea that he’ll ever own a house, a detached house like the one he lives in now that we were able to afford 25 years ago. He just thinks it’s a joke. The housing prices are ridiculous, there’s no way he’s ever going to be able to afford the kind of mortgage it would take crippling for life. So I want to ask your thoughts on that those, you know, people starting out in their 20s and early 30s. What do you say to them? Do you say give up on detached ownership and go for something smaller, and it’s a dream that’s dead? You’re never gonna get there? Let me ask how you feel. Obviously,

I’ve heard from Canadians, like your son, across the country who are really worried about the housing market who wonder whether or not they’ll ever be able to afford a home. One of the challenges we’re facing in Canada is our population with immigration and other things has been growing over the past years, and housing construction hasn’t kept up, which is a real problem. And that’s why one of the initiatives, we’re working on $4 billion towards municipalities in order to double the construction of new housing over the coming years.

This is something that is going to help, whether it’s enough or directly going to be helping your son, we’ll have to see because there’s not just one program that’s going to help anyone there’s going to be a range of programs from programs of renting to own that we’ve launched as well in this budget from programs that are helping the first time home buyers with increased incentives and reduction in their mortgage mortgage costs, initiatives to build greater density, particularly around public transit that are going to allow people to get into the housing market with their first starter condo starter home. These are the kinds of things that get people’s toes in the door. We know that young people need to be able to build the stable base with which they want to start a family give their future kids the kinds of opportunities that their parents worked hard to give them. And that’s what this budget and this focus of the government is on right now. But it’s not going to be easy.
