Trudeau government considering end to COVID vaccine mandate and testing at border https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-government-considering-end-to-covid-vaccine-mandate-and-testing-at-border/ https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-government-considering-end-to-covid-vaccine-mandate-and-testing-at-border/?noamp=mobile#respond Sat, 17 Sep 2022 15:13:48 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1980 The federal government is considering ending the COVID-19 vaccination mandate at the border and scrapping random testing requirements.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet have yet to make a final decision, but several sources confirmed ministers will soon consider ended the use of the unpopular ArriveCAN app.

This move follows after A constitutional freedoms group filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court of Canada against the mandatory use of the ArriveCAN app.

The legal challenge was launched by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) on behalf of 11 Canadians who were allegedly fined or ordered to quarantine for 14 days after returning to Canada.

“The applicants involved in this legal challenge have received fines of up to $8,500 each and been forced to disclose private medical information via ArriveCAN,” the group stated in a news release.

A report prepared for the Liberal Party of Canada in June of 2022 shows that the vaccines have little benefit for those under 60 further recommending that it is time to end travel mandates.

Report:
A Deeper Dive into the Publicly Available Ontario Data on COVID-19 Vaccination

“it is evident that the Ontario data presented in this report support that COVID-19 vaccines can benefit those 60 years and older and especially, those at least 70 years of age. However, it is not so clear that they benefit those under 60 years of age. Consequently, one must question mass vaccination programs, mandates, passports and travel bans for all age groups, given the adverse events and the unknown long-term effects of the vaccines.”

PM Trudeau warns “Covid is not done with us yet.” He says if 80-90% of eligible Canadians get up to date with their Covid vaccination, “we’ll have a much better winter with much less need” for public health restrictions.

Court Documents Reveal Trudeau’s Travel Ban Had No Scientific Basis https://canadianriley.com/court-documents-reveal-trudeaus-travel-ban-had-no-scientific-basis/ https://canadianriley.com/court-documents-reveal-trudeaus-travel-ban-had-no-scientific-basis/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 02 Aug 2022 22:44:34 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1662 Four lawsuits are currently challenging the mandate in federal court and are being processed simultaneously. The government wants the court to declare the challenges moot because the Liberals suspended the travel mandate (barring international arrivals) on June 20, warning it could be brought back depending on circumstances, but applicants still want the case heard by a judge.

To defend the mandates the government presented 16 witnesses and experts in court case Karl Harrison et al. v Attorney General.

Jennifer Little, director general of the COVID Recovery Team at Transport Canada, wrote the travel mandate policy and testified on June 9 and 10 that neither PHAC nor its parent department Health Canada had made a recommendation for the mandate.

A Canadian government epidemiologist in charge of reviewing COVID-19 scientific literature testified in court that there is little information available on the impacts of vaccination on in-flight transmission of the virus.

Waddell testified as a government witness on May 31 in defense of the government’s vaccine mandate in travel. “There are not many studies that look at vaccination status, most of the research that’s been done occurred prior to widespread vaccination,” said Dr. Lisa Waddell of the Emerging Sciences Group at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

Waddell and her team were responsible for reviewing and assessing the evidence regarding in-flight transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19. Waddell testified she considers that to be low risk.

Waddell also said that the PHAC brief did not recommend vaccination as a requirement to travel by air.

Trudeau Threatens Reporters to Stay Silent at a Staged Photo Opportunity https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-threatens-reporters-to-stay-silent-at-a-staged-photo-opportunity/ https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-threatens-reporters-to-stay-silent-at-a-staged-photo-opportunity/?noamp=mobile#respond Thu, 21 Jul 2022 05:56:14 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1504 Last week after Trudeau’s Liberal staged Calgary Stampede pancake breakfast is barely hot off the presses: Trudeau is continues his tour of staged photo ops in Kelowna only a few days later.

In a leaked press report by Kelowna’s Daily Courier “He (Trudeau) toured a Boys and Girls Club, a packinghouse, and a fruit stand with reporters invited to take pictures and videos but forbidden in advance to ask any questions. Any shouted queries would result in police-assisted eviction from the various premises, handlers told the media.”

Take note that only “reporters invited to take pictures and videos”.  Even during the staged Calgary Stampede pancake breakfast a protestor managed to shout in the background caught on video “Trudeau your a traitor” until they were whisked away by security in the background.

During the Kelowna staged photo op Trudeau managed to keep it silent by issuing the following statement prior to the event to invited reports “forbidden in advance to ask any questions. Any shouted queries would result in police-assisted eviction from the various premises, handlers told the media.”

When this media directive was leaked, social media lit up firing back from Trudeau’s threats of silence or police eviction, prompting the following statement to be issued from The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO):

Protests against the Trudeau government’s decision to send turbines to Europe for Russian pipeline https://canadianriley.com/protests-against-the-trudeau-governments-decision-to-send-turbines-to-europe-for-russian-pipeline/ https://canadianriley.com/protests-against-the-trudeau-governments-decision-to-send-turbines-to-europe-for-russian-pipeline/?noamp=mobile#respond Sun, 17 Jul 2022 21:49:10 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1464 Protestors can be seen in Edmonton at the Sieman’s building, and in Ottawa at parliament hill today. Protests are being held against the Trudeau government’s decision to hand over turbines for the Nord Stream-1 to Russia are urging Canada not to give in to Putin’s pressure on sanctions on Russia.

Canadian-Ukrainian Yuri Kolomiyets told the crowd of about 150 supporters assembled on the lawn of Parliament Hill that the decision will mean more oil and gas money for Russia to fund its attack on Ukraine.

Ottawa’s Ukrainian community is gathering on Parliament Hill on Sunday, July 17 to protest the federal government’s decision to send turbines to Europe for a Russian pipeline, despite severe sanctions against Russia over its war in Ukraine.

Protesters called on Canada to “be brave like Ukraine” and uphold economic sanctions against Russia on Sunday, just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered essentially the same message to the Prime Minister.

The Liberal government is facing criticism for deciding to give an exemption to Siemens Canada to send the six turbines to Germany.

“This was a very difficult decision,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday, July 13.

Prime Minister Trudeau said the decision was more about helping Canada’s European allies, as they face an energy crisis in their efforts to wean off Russian oil and gas, than it was about giving some sort of pass to the Russian regime.

“We have seen Russia consistently trying to weaponize energy as a way of creating division amongst the allies,” he added.

Freeland defends Trudeau and the Liberals decision to Exempt Gas Turbines From Sanctions saying that it was the “right thing to do”.

Speaking to reporters in a teleconference after a meeting of G-20 finance ministers in Bali, Indonesia, Freeland said she understood Ukraine’s response but defended the government’s move as the right one to make under the circumstances.

“That was a very difficult decision for Canada and I understand the concern that Ukraine has about it, but it was the right thing to do,” Freeland said.

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino Says Arrivecan App May Be Used Beyond Pandemic https://canadianriley.com/public-safety-minister-marco-mendicino-says-arrivecan-app-may-be-used-beyond-pandemic/ https://canadianriley.com/public-safety-minister-marco-mendicino-says-arrivecan-app-may-be-used-beyond-pandemic/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 11 Jul 2022 05:54:43 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1244 “ArriveCan was originally created for the purposes of COVID-19 but it has technological capacity beyond that to really shrink the amount of time that is required when you’re getting screened at the border,” Mendicino said.

The federal government has hinted that ArriveCAN, originally intended to provide travel and public health information during the COVID-19 pandemic, may be kept beyond the pandemic.

The app was introduced during the pandemic to allow travelers to report their trips and vaccination status. Ottawa requires that travelers use the ArriveCan mobile app, or its desktop version, to submit their travel and COVID-19-related health information before arriving in Canada.

On June 30, the federal government announced that existing COVID-19 restrictions will be extended for travelers entering Canada until Sept. 30, including the use of the ArriveCAN app. Once travel and public health measures are no longer needed, ArriveCAN will continue to be available for those who choose digital interaction at the border.

A recent update to the app added the “optional” function to allow passengers arriving at Toronto Pearson and Vancouver International airports to submit their customs and immigration declaration prior to landing. This feature will be expanded to Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport later this summer and to other airports in the future.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said this feature was part of the government’s border modernization strategy that was already underway before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was added to ArriveCan because people are already familiar with this app.
