Provinces and farmers denounce Trudeau for pushing ahead on fertilizer reduction climate policy https://canadianriley.com/provinces-and-farmers-denounce-trudeau-for-pushing-ahead-on-fertilizer-reduction-climate-policy/ https://canadianriley.com/provinces-and-farmers-denounce-trudeau-for-pushing-ahead-on-fertilizer-reduction-climate-policy/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 25 Jul 2022 05:10:21 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1560 Only days after Trudeau was in the Okanagan, BC on a photo shoot promoting farming and agriculture, Trudeau announces that he has decided to move forward with his cap on nitrogen emissions by reducing fertilizer use, even as provincial Agriculture Ministers beg him to stop.

Discontent with left-wing policy is triggering massive protests all over the world

Agriculture ministers from several provinces say they’re concerned about the federal government’s plan to reduce fertilizer emissions in the name of climate change at a time when global food security is an issue.

A three-day meeting of federal, provincial, and territorial ministers concluded in Saskatoon on July 22 with Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario expressing disappointment over the Liberals’ intent to impose fertilizer emissions reduction targets on Canadian farmers.

“We’re really concerned with this arbitrary goal,” said Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit in a joint statement with his counterpart in Alberta, Nate Horner. “The Trudeau government has apparently moved on from their attack on the oil and gas industry and set their sights on Saskatchewan farmers.”

According to Alberta Agriculture Minister Nate Horner, “This has been the most expensive crop anyone has put in, following a very difficult year on the prairies. The world is looking for Canada to increase production and be a solution to global food shortages. The Federal government needs to display that they understand this. They owe it to our producers.”

Fertilizer prices are a major input cost for already low-margin cash crop operations. A 35 per cent hike from this tariff — when combined with farmers’ already-inflated energy and gasoline bills — puts a lot of upward pressure on commodity prices.

That’s why Koeslag’s organization — along with the Grain Farmers of Ontario, the Ontario Canola Growers, the Atlantic Grains Council, Les Producteurs de Grains du Quebec, a half-dozen other farm groups from Eastern Canada and fertilizer industry representatives — called on the federal government again this week to reconsider.

Manitoba farmers are disappointed that their premier haven’t responded to Trudeau’s actions.

The federal government is looking to impose a requirement to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizers saying it is a greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. While the Trudeau government says they want a 30% reduction in emissions, not fertilizer, farm producer groups say that at this point, reducing nitrous oxide emissions can’t be done without reducing fertilizer use.

Canadian government invests $8.5 million into cricket-processing facility https://canadianriley.com/canadian-government-invests-8-5-million-into-cricket-processing-facility/ https://canadianriley.com/canadian-government-invests-8-5-million-into-cricket-processing-facility/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 12 Jul 2022 01:27:53 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=1282 The federal government announced it was investing up to $8.5 million into Aspire’s cricket-processing facility in London.

The government says the funding will be used by Aspire to “use the latest smart technology to create the ideal growing conditions for crickets at its facility in London, Ontario” and “allow the company to monitor and grow billions of crickets at a time, producing a nutrient-rich protein for premium health food and pet markets.”

The government said they choose the company to invest in because “Aspire’s goal to tackle global food scarcity led to its focus on edible insect production, which can provide high volumes of nutritious food with a low environmental footprint.”

“These concerns, together with ethical considerations regarding the welfare and eating of animals, could also boost demand for plant-based proteins and alternative protein sources (e.g. insects, cultured meat).”

The government believes this technology will allow the company to cut its production costs, which would increase its marketability and sales in the domestic and international markets.

The government says “alternative sources of protein such as insects provide an opportunity to more sustainable meet global demand for food by using less water, energy and space and emitting significantly less greenhouse gas emissions during the production stage.”

Some people believe that the Canadian Governments investment in the cricket factory is to align with the World Economic Forum’s climate change agenda “5 reasons why eating insects could reduce climate change” as found on the World Economic Forum website.

A supermarket facility in the Netherlands, which was funded by the Bill Gates foundation, and that sold “new age” foods, like his plant-protein meats and other odd “goodies,” has burned to the ground in the middle of the night.

The Counter Signal reported that a large facility in Almelo owned by Picnic, a Bill Gates-funded grocery delivery company that uses electric vehicles, has suddenly caught fire in the dead of night.

Last year, the company was given a whopping 600 million euros from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and many participating in the ongoing farmers’ protests in Holland have openly stated they believe Gates may be partly responsible for pushing additional climate laws.

Trudeau Wants to Provide Financial Assistance Indefinitely to Mainstream Media https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-wants-to-provide-financial-assistance-indefinitely-to-mainstream-media/ https://canadianriley.com/trudeau-wants-to-provide-financial-assistance-indefinitely-to-mainstream-media/?noamp=mobile#respond Sun, 10 Jul 2022 11:22:26 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=354

The bulk of Canada’s media is bought, and paid for by the Liberal Government which has extended generous taxpayer subsidies to outlets that comply. The federal government rolls out nearly $600 million in subsidies for select media outlets that obtain the federal government’s approval.

The majority of government media control is obviously the CBC, with an annual bill to taxpayers well in excess of $1 billion.

By handing nearly $600 million directly to select newspapers, the government is just extending the control that it had over other mediums, to traditional mainstream newspapers.

To distribute the subsidies, the Liberals created a handpicked panel, giving the bailout an appearance of distance from direct partisan intervention however; the panel was stacked with Liberal media allies.

The Liberal government wants to provide assistance indefinitely for mainstream media after the $595 million federal journalism bailout expires in 2024.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, the Department of Canadian Heritage hasn’t ruled out extending funding despite the fact that the bailout has failed to save financially unviable outlets or prevent them from going under.

“News businesses have seen their revenues significantly decline affecting coverage of our communities and institutions,” said Canadian Heritage spokesperson David Larose.

“The government is committed to supporting the long term viability of the Canadian news sector including through various tax measures and programs.”

During a media convention, Trudeau says “we paid them $600 million dollars” to buy off the media in order to get good coverage.

Lucki Referred to Direct Pressure from Federal Minister Bill Blair to Name Guns https://canadianriley.com/lucki-referred-to-direct-pressure-from-federal-minister-bill-blair-to-name-guns/ https://canadianriley.com/lucki-referred-to-direct-pressure-from-federal-minister-bill-blair-to-name-guns/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 28 Jun 2022 22:59:37 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=925 A letter from an RCMP communications manager released today says RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki referred to direct pressure from the federal public safety minister to release firearm details days after the Nova Scotia mass shooting.

The letter, part of the evidence provided to a public inquiry into the April 18-19, 2020 mass shooting, from Lia Scanlan dated April 14, 2021 claims the RCMP’s leader was focused on the Liberal government’s agenda of passing firearms legislation when she criticized Halifax staff during an April 28, 2020 conference call.

Scanlan wrote that Lucki had informed those present during the meeting that she faced “pressures and conversation with Minister Bill Blair, which we clearly understood was related to the upcoming passing of the gun legislation.”

According the strategic communications director at the time of the shootings Lia Scanlan, Lucki had come on the line angry that the Halifax staff hadn’t released the gun details, suggesting they had let down surviving children whose parents were killed.

The manager says in the letter she recalled “a feeling of disgust as I realized this was the catalyst for the conversation and perhaps a justification for what you were saying about us.”

Supt. Darren Campbell, hours earlier during a news conference, had declined to provide details about the guns used by the killer, saying it would interfere with the investigation.

Handwritten notes from Campbell, released last Monday by the inquiry, also say Lucki told those present she had promised the federal Public Safety Department and the Prime Minister’s Office that information on the guns used by the shooter would be released because it was “tied to pending gun control legislation.”

Blair said last Wednesday during question period in the House of Commons that Lucki had made no such promise to him, and repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, noting the Liberal promise to enact stiffer laws on guns long predated the tragedy. “The vicious murder of 22 Canadians using firearms deepened our resolve to make Canadians safe and to keep our promise,” he said.

Key Convoy Organizers Granted Standing on Inquiry into use of Emergencies Act https://canadianriley.com/key-convoy-organizers-granted-standing-on-inquiry-into-use-of-emergencies-act/ https://canadianriley.com/key-convoy-organizers-granted-standing-on-inquiry-into-use-of-emergencies-act/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 28 Jun 2022 21:28:28 +0000 https://canadianriley.com/?p=918 Key convoy organizers, police, Liberal federal and some provincial governments, have been granted standing in the public inquiry looking into the invocation of the federal Emergencies Act. The governments of Saskatchewan and Alberta have been granted full standing, while the government of Manitoba will be allowed to enter written submissions, but the federal Conservative Party and a number of individuals who had their bank accounts frozen have been denied.

Key convoy organizers including Tamara Lich, Tom Marazzo, Chris Barber and Daniel Bulford have been granted full standing. Rouleau wrote of the organizers “Their contributions to the work of the commission are necessary, as they are uniquely situated to offer information to the commission and give firsthand evidence as to the goals and organization of the convoy.”

The Ottawa Police Service has been granted full standing, while its former chief Peter Sloly will be allowed to produce documents and examine witnesses. The cities of Ottawa and Windsor have also been granted standing.

Although only the Liberal federal government has been granted standing, Rouleau said “There is also an important role for an independent non-partisan process. Both ought to operate independently from one another.”
